hannah han

Hannah Han lives in Los Angeles, California. She co-founded The Stirling Spoon in the summer of 2018 and is the head editor of both prose and art submissions. She has received recognition for her fiction from the Alliance for Young Writers & Artists, the National YoungArts Foundation, and the Bennington College Young Writers Awards, and her work has been published in Quarterly West, Jet Fuel Review, and Sine Theta, among others. Besides reading and writing, Hannah enjoys drawing, eating churros, stalking Goodreads, and sleeping in.

riley baker

Riley Baker now lives in Delaware but originally hails from the Chicago area. As co-founder and co-editor-in-chief, she is the head of poetry submissions for The Stirling Spoon. Riley has been recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, as well as summer writing institutes such as the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio and The New England Young Writers’ Conference at Breadloaf. Riley likes The Strokes, flared pants, and driving 15 minutes out of her way to her favorite coffeeshop. She is currently reading Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion.

logan brown

Logan Brown is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the head and founder of the poetry club at St. Andrew’s School and plans to pursue poetry in college. He frequently performs spoken word and has a passion for creating platforms for others to explore themselves through self-expression. Logan loves binging shows ranging from Game of Thrones to Rick and Morty. He also likes filming and is interested in mixing poetry with cinematography.

sydney jezik

Sydney Jezik lives in Madison, Wisconsin, and has been writing since she was six years old. She’s the founder of her school’s poetry club and president of its spoken word club, as well as an editor for its critically acclaimed newspaper. She also wrote a musical for her school’s drama club. A classic Scorpio, she enjoys vibing to music and hanging out with friends. She also secretly, maybe (definitely) believes in magic, and finds it clear and beautiful in the art of writing.

Zoe RedlicH

Zoe Redlich currently lives in Los Angeles, California, but will be starting at Brown University in 2021. She recently graduated from her high school, where she worked as a senior editor of the literary magazine, edited for the newspaper, and spent way too much time in the theater. She is devoted to creating communities for young artists to share work, and her own writing has won national recognition from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. She is definitely far too obsessed with The Shins, and recently, Normal People.

Caroline Samoluk

Caroline Samoluk is from Boston, Massachusetts. She is a writer and editor for a multi-high school thought paper and has written for several publications throughout her schooling. Caroline is also a singer-songwriter, a passion which she discovered through her love of poetry. She plans to pursue writing throughout higher education, and in her free time, she fully intends on continuing music and theater.

Nathan Zhang lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and currently reads and reviews both prose and poetry submissions for The Stirling Spoon. He has received recognition from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, The North Carolina Poetry Society, and The Austin International Poetry Festival. Outside of writing, he enjoys binge watching cooking videos, knowing too much about Sigmund Freud, and Wikipedia deep dives.

maddie botti

Maddie Botti is from Boston, Massachusetts. They are involved in the magazine and digital newspaper at their school, and are in the midst of attempting to write a novel. Maddie has attended the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, as well as monthly classes at Grubstreet in Boston, and is also interested in filmmaking and cinematography. Their latest obsessions include Sylvia Plath, Pink Floyd, and Mr. Robot.

Eleri Phillips

Eleri Phillips is the art editor of The Stirling Spoon. Originally from Pennsylvania, Eleri currently lives in Hong Kong and goes to school in Delaware. At her school she is an art major and head of the environmental club and Student Diversity Committee. She enjoys using her art to explore themes of identity and place. Lately, Eleri has been obsessed with long walks, listening to podcasts, and drinking iced matcha lattes.

Hongru Chen

Hongru Chen is from Hebei, China and currently lives in North Andover, Massachusetts. He discovered his passion in art through scribbling on the walls of his house as a child. His artwork has been recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and he serves as the head editor of his school’s online art and literary publication. Outside of art, Hongru enjoys writing poetry, playing video games, and learning K-pop choreographies.
